Long service life in demanding furnace atmospheres
Radiant tubes are exposed to corrosive furnace atmospheres at high temperatures. Depending on the service temperature and furnace atmosphere, different heat-resistant materials are selected.
Thermalloys supplies radiant tubes in the following alloy grades:
- Kanthal APM / APMT — FeCrAl alloys with the highest oxidation resistance among commercial alloys. Suitable for most atmospheres except cracked ammonia. Used as flame tubes and inner tubes in recuperative burner radiant tube configurations.
- 25Cr20Ni (AISI 310), 253MA (S30815) — austenitic FeCrNi alloys performing well in oxidizing environments.
- Alloy 800HT, Alloy 600 — nickel-base alloys suitable for nitriding atmospheres (cracked ammonia).
Material selection depends on the service temperature, atmosphere composition, and cost. Standard dimensions range from OD 79×3 mm to OD 248×5 mm. Custom sizes are available on request.
