Heating elements from tube
APM tube heating elements for high carbon-activity furnace environments
Tube-based heating elements
Heating elements manufactured from Kanthal APM tubes are used in three main application areas:
- High carbon-activity environments: When elementary carbon can be deposited on furnace components, low-voltage elements are required to prevent electrical currents between components. Tube elements keep operating voltage low.
- Challenging geometries: When increased heat capacity is needed and the furnace geometry makes installation of conventional wire or ribbon elements difficult.
- Mechanical robustness: When mechanical stress would damage traditional heating elements, tube elements provide superior rigidity and resistance to deformation.
Heating coils within the tube are manufactured from Kanthal D or AF resistance alloy. Tube elements have been successfully installed in heat treatment furnaces across Europe and Asia.
