For thermocouples and temperature sensors — metallic and ceramic options
Protection tubes
- Large stock of FeCrAl and 253MA tubes plus end caps and fittings
- Metallic protection tubes: delivery within two weeks worldwide
- Super 1700 tubes: 3–6 weeks depending on specification
Materials and configurations
Thermalloys manufactures and supplies protection tubes for thermocouples and other temperature measurement equipment operating in high-temperature and aggressive atmospheres. Three material families are available to cover the full temperature range:
- FeCrAl alloys (Kanthal APM/APMT, AF) — for most oxidizing and reducing atmospheres; scaling resistance up to 1425°C
- 253MA (EN 1.4835 / S30815) — an austenitic FeCrNi alloy suitable for temperatures up to 1150°C
- Super 1700 (MoSi&sub2;) — a molybdenum disilicide ceramic composite for applications up to 1700°C in oxidizing atmospheres
Available configurations
Protection tubes are supplied in the following forms:
-
Open-ended straight tubes
Standard cut length. Metallic tubes up to 6 m; Super 1700 up to 2 m.
-
Closed one end
Tube with a welded end cap on one end, open at the other.
-
Closed end with thread
Welded end cap on one end, threaded connection on the other for direct installation.
-
With flanges or fittings
Custom flanges, compression fittings and other components welded on as required.
